Do you remember...?

  Do you remember the book "Chew On This" which I introduced to you in my blog? I hope you remember because today, I am going to tell you about my book in more detail. So, here we go!

  The author is Eric Schlosser and Charles Wilson. Basically, as I told you before, this book is abot fast food industry in United States. It talks about the history of fast food, the harmful effects, ingredients, global effects and so on. Also, it describes and gives facts about McDonald's and other famous fast food chain to make it easy for us to undertand.

  Some of us might think we already know a lot of thing about fast food, because it's so familiar to us now. You see fast food chains everywhere, and probably everyday. Don't you? To be honest I thought I already know enough about fast food. However, this book made me realize that I didn't know anything about it!

Let me introduce some of the facts which I learned:

• Every day about 1 out of 14 Americans eats at McDonald's.
• Charlie Nagreen's meatball sandwiches at Outagamine Country Fair was the beginning of the fast food industry.
• In 1970, Americans spent only $6 billion on fast food. But in 2006, the amount of money spent on fast food increased to $142billion and it is still increasing. (Americans now spend more money on fast food than on education, technology and so on. 

  Fast food has become popular, not only the United States, but also in Japan. Fast food tastes very delicious, and people becoming addicted to those tastes might be one reason why fast food became so popular. However, I personally think this is because everyone is becoming very busy due to their work. Even though we don't eat as much fast food as the Americans, the the harmful effects and global effects of fast food is related to Japanese. Also, by reading this book, it helps people who think of health and do a healthy diet in their every day life to keep fit and strong.

  So overall, I strongly recommend this book to those who are either interestedin learning about food, or who wants to have a healthy diet. For those people who love fast food and want to continue eating it, I don't really recommend it. Why? Because there is fact which "You Don't Want to Know About Fast Food". But still, I think it is worth reading it. It really changes your thought on fast food.

Let's review a restaurant review !

Hello everyone! How's everything going?

  Well, I was having an interesting time. In oneof our classes at university, me and my classmate were put into pairs and given an opportunity to look through and review the restaurant reviews. So today, I want to share those 2 restaurant reviews which we reviewed on it.

  So now, let me introduce the first review, which was a video one. This review was about a vegan restaurant called  Sadie's Diner in Toronto, and was reviewed by a couple called Brock and Marta. They took a video of them trying the food they ordered and commenting mainly about the food and restaurant itself. Most of the comments were positive, but there was some negative feedback about this restaurant. For example, the smell inside the restaurant and one of the meal Marta ate being too cheesy. Apparently, it was their first visit at this restaurant which made their comments and reviews more effective, realistic and trustworthy. Why? Because they show their first impression and reaction of the food, restaurant's atmosphere and so on. Unfortunately, Sadie's Diner is now closed. However, the food shown on in this review looked very delicious and mouthwatering. So if it was still open, I will definately visited this place.

  Another review which we looked up was a written review. It was a review about a restaurant LITTLE SISTER in Toronto. Although the author doesn't talk about facilities, he explained what he ordered when he visited one night in detail. For example, how much it costs and whether the amount was enough or to much. Also, it gives us some information about the places you eat, which gives us some clue about this restaurants atmosphere. Not only these description, but also the word and the way he expresses things, such as the taste of the food is very fantastic. Even though you haven't eaten the food there before, you can imagine the taste of it. The resaturant recommendation which the author wrote was 3 stars out of 4, and he doesn't seem to have a lot of dislikes. It must be a very fantastic restaurant! If I have chance, I would like to go to this restaurant.

  Both of the reviews which we looked at uses phrases and comments which we can relate and understand. But I personally thought the video one is more effective.

Da Masa...?

Hi ! Today, I will introduce you one of my favorite italian restaurant called "Da Masa" with some reviews. 

When I went to the "Da Masa" last week with my family, we ordered margarita, bacon and onion spaghetti, and tuna and cabbage tomato spaghetti. You might find it difficult to find this restaurant at first. Even I did. But the food they serve is very delicious and mouthwatering. The amount of food for each dish is very reasonable. So, you can order one meal and eat it by yourself, or you can order couple and share it with your friends or family. Also, I think the price is quite cheap, if you compare to the other italian restaurant. They serve different dishes every day, so you can eat varity of meals. And guess what? They have a specail stone oven to cook pizza, which makes the dishes very similar to the real italian cuisine.

     Surprisingly, there are only 2 to 3 staff at this restaurant. But still, the service was great, the restaurant was very peaceful, quiet and clean and it was very comfortable to stay there. All of the staff was very kind, and I couldn't find any bad things about this restaurant. So if you have time, let's go to "Da Masa". You can I strongly recommend you to visit this restaurant.

13:20    Arrived at the restaurant and all of the seat was full. One of the server came outside and asked us to wait inside the restaurant because it was very cold outside.

13:24    We were seated and given menus. The server was very nice, but he looked very busy because there was only 2 workers in the restaurant.

13:27    We ordered 2 types of spaghetti and one pizza. The server explained to us that we can go and get any drinks from the counter. Also he mentioned that the price will not change no matter how many drink we have.

13:28    We went to the counter to get the drinks. There were acerola juice, water, tea, and coffee.

13:47    Pizza was served.

13:53    Two pastas were served.

14:02    The server came to check whether everything was o.k. and if we wanted to order more meals.

14:14    The server cleared out the dishes.

14:18    The server presented us with the check.

14:20    We got the receipt back and left the resaturant.

     Unfortunately, I couldn't take a video in this restaurant. So instead of the video, I took pictures and made a slideshow. If you have a time, please look at it. I hope you enjoy it!
